WATERLOO, ON – The Waterloo Siskins are proud to announce three significant additions to the team’s bench staff, bringing a diverse blend of veteran leadership, tactical expertise, and championship pedigree to the organization. Joining Head Coach Matt Doyle for the upcoming campaign are Wade Wilson, Tyler Ludolph, and former Siskins captain Ben Oliver.
“We are incredibly excited about the group we’ve assembled,” said the Siskins’ GM, Brian Huddle. “Each of these individuals brings a unique perspective—ranging from sports psychology to head coaching experience and a deep-rooted understanding of the Siskins’ culture. This staff is designed to provide our players with the best possible environment for both athletic and personal development.”
Meet the New Staff
Wade Wilson – Assistant Coach – Wilson reunites with Head Coach Matt Doyle, having previously served as his Associate Coach with the Huron-Perth U18 AAA program. Beyond his tactical contributions on the ice, Wilson is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant, CMPC. His dual-threat capability as a strategist and a mental performance coach will be instrumental in navigating the high-pressure environment of Junior hockey.
Tyler Ludolph – Assistant Coach – Ludolph makes the jump to the Siskins after a successful tenure as Head Coach of the Hespeler Shamrocks in the PJHL. His experience managing a bench and his familiarity with the local recruiting landscape provide the Siskins with a seasoned leader who understands the nuances of game-day adjustments and player personnel.
Ben Oliver – Assistant Coach – A familiar face returns to the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex. Oliver, a former Siskins captain known for his grit, leadership and offensive prowess, joins the staff for his first coaching role. His transition from the locker room to the bench ensures that the “Siskins Way” remains at the heart of the team’s identity, providing a direct bridge between the players and the staff.
Building for Success
These appointments signal the Siskins’ commitment to maintaining their status as a premier destination in the GOHL. By combining Wilson’s psychological insights, Ludolph’s head coaching experience, and Oliver’s local legacy, the team has created a comprehensive support system for its roster.
Training camp is set to begin in mid-August, where the new staff will take to the ice for the first time.
